Jost Van Dyke is small, steep and green, home to a few hundred people and a reputation far bigger than that. White Bay is the classic stop: a curve of white sand, clear water and the Soggy Dollar Bar, where the Painkiller is said to have been invented.

Around the corner, Great Harbour has Foxy’s and a slower pace. Sandy Spit and Little Jost Van Dyke are close by when you want quieter water for snorkeling.
